Mars stations direct February 11 – March 8
From February 11 until February 23, Mars inches backwards ever so slowly through 17 degrees of Cancer. During this period, frustrations and anger over situations that appear beyond any sort of control reach a peak. There is great insight deep under such situations and it often involves shadow (repressed) material. This is Mars – move your body, be patient, ask for help from Divine guides. Explore what is uncomfortable completely. Know that insights are on their way.
From February 23 to March 8, we get the insights we need to break open and move into a new way of taking appropriate action in our lives. However, Mars is still moving very slowly at this point and patience is still needed. Hasty, impulsive action is not advised but you may notice that there are little (or not so little) explosions happening everywhere as the tensions of the Mars retrograde are released.
If you have any planets or points in your chart near 17 Cancer (or 17 Aries, 17 Capricorn, 17 Libra), you are in a Mars time from February 11 – March 18. This is a call to decisive action. It’s time to face a fear and effective action is all that counts. It’s time to do what you must do. It’s time to have that difficult discussion, make that house repair that you’ve been putting off, admit that you need to quit your job and apply for a new one…. Steven Forrest writes, “With Mars, all we can do is take a deep breath – and do what is necessary. Maybe the situation explodes in our face, but only maybe. If we do not take action, that explosion is certain and will probably be even more destructive when it finally does detonate.”
In the past as Mars has stationed direct, I've been amazed at how old situations and patterns that have seem to be undermining me for years can resolve and fall away. Especially from February 11 to 23, I'm going to really dive deeply into the tensions and situations that I don't like in my life so that I can know them throroughly. By the time Mars goes direct on the 23rd, anything uncomfortable I have made room for, explored, felt, and experienced completely can be easily shed. It's not pleasant, but it's worth it!
